Tane Mahuta has a message for the children of Aotearoa. His family of Kauri trees are dying of an incurable disease called Kauri-dieback.Joshua meets Tane one night in a vision and he  hears Tane speak to him much to his surprise and disbelief.Tane Mahuta takes on the mantle of a wise old teacher and asks Joshua and his friend Maia for help.

Joshua and Maia have many adventures and learn much about the environment and the secret life of trees. This is a story that not only applies to  what is happening to our Kauri Forests - but is a story that is happening in forests all over the world.
